V6 AND FUEL CONSUMPTION

Truly, V6 Engines consumes more fuel than V4 engines because of higher horsepower and engine performance

But then, there are V6 engines that are more fuel efficient than V4 engines

It is on the premise of this purported fuel efficiency that Nigerians are rushing Toyota Corolla

A very sound 3.0L V6 engine with optimally performing O2 sensors, AF sensors, MAF sensor, well positioned throttle position sensor, ignition system, and injector nozzles will consume lesser fuel than an inefficient 2.4L V4 engine

V6 engines differs, there are V6 engines with 3.0, 3.3, 3.5, 3.7, 4.0, upto 7.8 litres while there are V4 engines with 1.6, 1.8, 2.0, 2.2, 2.4, 2.7 Litres capacity

Their fuel consumption differs according to their displacement (litres), and horsepower

If you are looking for very fuel efficient cars then you should go for 1.2-2.0 capacity engines

The fuel consumption difference between 2.4, 2.7 litres V4 engines and 3.0 Ltr V6 is almost negligible

The V6 engines that consumes more fuel are 3.5, 4.0 to 7.8 Litre engines

So if you are looking for powerful engines with moderate fuel consumption and speed, kindly go for 3.0 or 3.3 Litre V6 engine or 2.7 Ltr V4 Engine

Those driving Lexus cars with 1MZ,(3.0L), 3MZ (3.3L) will agree with me that they’re highly fuel efficient unlike other V6 engines

A very good 1MZ engine will take you from Lagos to Owerri on Full tank before refilling

There are so many things that can cause high fuel consumption in cars

Check my next post for more information on that
